Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,3, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Institut für Geschichtswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Dante, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Es ist ein dunkler Wald, der Dante am Anfang seines Mammutwerkes, das er Komödie nennt und welchem sein erster Biograph Giovanni Boccaccio das Attribut göttlich verleiht, empfängt. Unwissenheit prägt die Atmosphäre dieses ersten Gesangs genauso wie die Hoffnung auf den Veltro, den Retter. Wer auch immer dieser Veltro sein mag und wie surreal jener Anbeginn auch wirkt. Er könnte geradezu eine Allegorie auf den jungen florentinischen Dichter sein, der sich mit einer Umwelt konfrontiert sieht, die so gar nicht mehr den römisch-antiken und ritterlichen Idealen des Hochmittelalters entspricht. Er sieht eine Kirche, welche die Grenzen ihrer eigenen Religion überschreitet und gänzlich ungeniert die uneingeschränkte Untergebenheit aller auf dem Erdball wohnenden Individuen einfordert. Er sieht in seiner eigenen Stadt die aufkeimenden Sprösse des frühen Kapitalismus empor wachsen und muss es ertragen, wie handfeste Wirtschaftsbeziehungen mit äußeren Mächten die Politik einzelner Parteien in Florenz maßgeblich beeinflussen - bis hin zu seiner eigenen Exilierung wohlgemerkt, die sich im Jahre 1301 vollzieht. Er sieht einen Kaiserthron, der seit seinen Kindertagen verwaist ist und muss leidlich mit ansehen, wie die von ihm so hochgeschätzte Einheit der Menschheit an den Souveränitätsbestrebungen einzelner Partikularmächte, wie Sizilien, Frankreich und Neapel zerbricht. Eine Einheit, die Dante als notwendig für das irdische und jenseitige Glück erachtet, da die Menschheit nur im Kollektiv den möglichen Intellekt, um das monopsychische Wort des Averroës hier zu entlehnen, als Hauptaufgabe seiner weltlichen Existenz verwirklichen kann. Inmitten dieser Unordnung, dieses unerträglichen Chaos, das die Welt ist, bietet nun Dantes Vernunft ihren
