Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1.3, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (Institut für Germanistische und Allgemeine Literaturwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit unersucht, wie die Shoah in der "Ästhetik des Widerstands" dargestellt wird, beziehungsweise welche Mittel und Methoden Weiss dafür benutzt. Als Erstes werden zwei von dem Geschichtswissenschaftler Michael Rothberg zusammengefasste Ansätze in der Diskussion über die Darstellbarkeit der Shoah in der Literatur vorgestellt sowie auch seine eigene Position innerhalb des Diskurses. Der Kern der Arbeit bildet die Untersuchung über die Darstellungsstrategien, die Peter Weiss benutzt, mit denen er die Shoah in der ÄdW thematisiert. Beginnend mit der Vorstellung des ästhetischen Prinzips der Indirektheit folgt die Betrachtung des Vaters des Erzählers und seiner Reaktionen auf den faschistischen Schrecken. Anschließend folgt die Darstellung der Mutter des Erzählers und ihrer im Kontrast zum Vater stehenden Reaktion in Form ihres Verstummens und ihrer Visionen. Das Ende des Kapitels über die Darstellungsstrategien bildet eine Untersuchung zu einem programmatischen Aspekt, den Peter Weiss zur Thematisierung der Shoah im Roman aufstellt, in der auch auf eine These Rothbergs zurückgegriffen wird. Bevor die Arbeit in einem abschließenden Fazit endet, wird Peter Weiss' persönliches Verhältnis zur Shoah und dessen Darstellung in der ÄdW und in seinem 1964 verfassten Text Meine Ortschaft thematisiert und miteinander verglichen. Fundament dieser Arbeit ist selbstverständlich eine Ausgabe des von Peter Weiss zwischen 1975 und 1981 in drei Bänden veröffentlichten Romans "Die Ästhetik des Widerstands".
