Der Mensch ist ein biologisches Wesen. Damit entstehen auch alle psychischen Phanomene innerhalb einer biologischen Struktur, namlich der des Gehirns. Wer daraus jedoch folgert, psychische Beeintrachtigungen liessen sich etwa mit einem Mehr oder Weniger an Dopamin oder Serotonin im synaptischen Spalt erklaren, irrt, denn viel zu komplex und wechselwirkend ist die Funktionsweise der neuronalen Struktur, um sie mit einem schlichten Wenn A, dann B zu erklaren. Hochkomplexe psychische Beeintrachtigungen und Erkrankungen resultieren zudem aus einer von Sinnfragen uberlagerten inneren Auseinandersetzung des Menschen mit sich selbst. So werden sowohl reine Biologisten als auch jene Fachleute, die einen von neuronalen Ablaufen unabhangigen menschlichen Geist propagieren, dem komplizierten Zusammenspiel von Hirnphysiologie einerseits sowie der kulturellen, also psychosozial gewordenen Uberformung durch Sinngebung andererseits nicht gerecht. Gerhard Roth und Andreas Heinz diskutieren in ihrem Gesprach die vielschichtigen Bedingungen, die das Entstehen psychischer Storungen nach sich ziehen konnen. Die Hirnforschung wirkt hier als hilfreiche Stutze der Psychotherapie, zeigt dieser aber auch die Begrenztheit bisheriger therapeutischer Wirkmodelle auf.
About the Author: Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. rer. nat. Gerhard Roth war von 1976 bis 2008 Professor fur Verhaltensphysiologie und Entwicklungsneurobiologie am Institut fur Hirnforschung der Universitat Bremen. Er war von 1997 bis 2008 Grundungsrektor des Hanse-Wissenschaftskollegs und von 2003 bis 2011 Prasident der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Er hat uber 200 Fachartikel und erfolgreiche Sachbucher im Bereich der Neurobiologie und Neurophilosophie veroffentlicht. Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. med. Andreas Heinz ist Professor fur Psychiatrie und Direktor der Klinik fur Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin. Er ist Vorstandsmitglied der European Psychiatric Association, stellvertretender Vorsitzender der Aktion Psychisch Kranke e.V. (APK) und Vorstandsmitglied der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Nervenheilkunde (DGPPN) fur Universitare Psychiatrie. Uwe Britten, Jahrgang 1961, arbeitet seit vielen Jahren als Lektor, Redakteur und Autor in den Bereichen Psychotherapie, Psychiatrie und Jugendhilfe.
