Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,0, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Institut für deutsche Philologie), Veranstaltung: Die Entdeckung der Provinz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit soll zuerst das Leben und Schaffen Wilhelm Hauffs sowie seine Stellung und literarische Wirkung geschildert und im Folgenden auf das Märchen "Das kalte Herz" eingegangen werden. Darauf aufbauend wird dargestellt, inwiefern "Das kalte Herz" literaturgeschichtlich betrachtet zwischen der Romantik und dem Realismus einzuordnen ist. Abschließend wird auf das "Provinzielle" an Hauffs Text eingegangen, wobei vor allem Natur und Gesellschaft im Blickpunkt der Betrachtung stehen sollen. Märchen erfreuen sich auch heute noch bei Kindern wie Erwachsenen großer Beliebtheit. Benutzt man den Begriff "Märchen", so bezieht man sich häufig auf die überaus populären Kinder- und Hausmärchen, die Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts von den Gebrüdern Grimm publiziert wurden. Dabei vergisst man schnell, dass in der Zeit um 1800, also in der literaturhistorischen Epoche der Romantik, weitaus mehr Märchen hervorgebracht wurden, als dass man der Sache gerecht wird, wenn man "Grimms Märchen" stellvertretend für die Gattung der Märchen heranzieht. Neben der Volksliedersammlung Des Knaben Wunderhorn, die von Clemens Brentano und Achim von Arnim herausgegeben wurde, trat zunehmend das sogenannte Kunstmärchen in den Vordergrund, das einen namentlich bekannten Verfasser hatte und sich unter anderem dadurch vom Volksmärchen unterschied, von dem man annahm, dass es über lange Zeit mündlich tradiert wurde und demnach "aus dem Volk" entstand. Neben E.T.A. Hoffmann, Ludwig Tieck oder etwa dem Dänen Hans Christian Anderson gilt Wilhelm Hauff als einer der bekanntesten Verfasser von Kunstmärchen.
