Die Tagebücher meines Vaters waren es mir wert veröffentlicht zu werden. Die Generation, die nach dem 1. Weltkrieg geboren wurde, hat viel gelitten und sie hat beide Teile Deutschlands nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wieder aufgebaut. In die Zeit und in das Land hinein geboren, hatten die Menschen keine andere Möglichkeit, als zu versuchen damit zurecht zu kommen. Vaters Das Ziel, die Beamtenschule zu besuchen, war aus Geldmangel nicht möglich. Letztendlich hat er es doch geschafft. Der Gegebenheiten wegen ist mein Vater mit 14 Jahren ausgerissen, vom Erzgebirge nach Hamburg gefahren, hat sich als Schiffsjunge verdingt und wurde Seemann. Als der Krieg ausbrach, versuchte er als Matrose wieder in die USA zu kommen. Die Gestapo verhaftete ihn. Er kam in die Division Großdeutschland und war an den Hauptkampforten des Krieges bis zum Kriegsende. Die Schlacht am Kursker Bogen, Vormarsch bis zum Don, während der Fronturlaubs die Zerstörung Hamburgs erleben, die Kämpfe bei den Seelower Höhen sind nur einige Etappen, die aus Kriegszeiten geschildert werden. Viele unmittelbar aus seinem Umfeld, die gefallen sind und viele Begleiter werden genannt. Ihm gelang es nicht in Gefangenschaft zu kommen. Er wurde 1945 Polizist kurz darauf Bergmann im Uranbergbau im Erzgebirge. Leben wollen, sich und den seinen etwas schaffen, nie sich ducken, sondern aussprechen, wo der Schuh drückt, immer die Risiken erkennend und versuchend denen auszuweichen, hat er sein Leben gestaltet. Das war kein angepasstes Leben. Da durch mich von den Niederschriften nichts weggelassen oder geschönt wurde, kann manch einer wegen der Gegebenheiten im Krieg und danach Unverständnis für Handlungen zeigen. Alles ist in der konkreten Lage und Zeit zu sehen. Das war auch der Grund dies zu veröffentlichen. Nie mehr soll vom Deutschen Boden ein Krieg ausgehen. Alles ist zu tun, um kriegerische Handlungen auszuschließen. Viel ist vom 2. Weltkrieg und auch vom Leben in der DDR veröffentlicht worden. Das hier geschilderte ist ein konkretes einzelnes Leben. Es ist ein kleines Mosaiksteinchen, das helfen soll ein Bild der Zeit zu vollständigen.
