About the Book

El cuento de la manzana / The Story of the Apple

Elsa is walking with a group of children and their nanny in the zoo. When they approach the cage with exotic birds, Elsa gets distracted and separated from the group when she hears a macaw complaining about another bird, who took advantage of an oversight, and bit his apple that a boy threw into the cage. The macaw is very frustrated because nobody wants to tell him who bit his apple, and it seems that they want to give him a hard time and make fun of him. Elsa is fascinated listening to the birds discuss among themselves and how they try to solve their problems.

El cuento del canguro / The Story of the Kangaroo

In another incident in the same zoo, Elsa also gets distracted and separated from the nanny and the children and ends up near the kangaroo area. The mother kangaroo is carrying her baby in her pouch, and both begin talking to Elsa in a friendly manner. Elsa is interested in the kangaroos and their lives in the Australian Bush. They tell her about their adventures, hardships, and how they were hunted, captured, and brought to the zoo.
