Before Bella Daniels could react, her boyfriend's mother snarled, attacked her son, and bit his shoulder. Bella screamed, scrambled off the bed, and saw Jason's karate stick. She grabbed it, broke the end, turned, and stabbed Mrs. Enoha in the head. She pulled it out, and the woman fell to the floor, dead.
Bella knelt beside her boyfriend and saw the torn flesh. Jason sputtered blood, winced, and looked at her with tears.
"I love you so much," he gasped, and she sniffed, nodding and taking his head in her hands.
"We have to get you to a hospital," she sniffed, and he shook his head.
He held her hand and coughed.
"Bell, you saw it on the TV, and we've seen enough flicks and comics to know what this is. Please, babe, don't let me turn into one of them things," he cried.
She sobbed, looking at his dead mother, and she sniffed, nodding. They heard growls and snarls, and Jason touched Bella's face.
"Do it and get out of here," he sputtered.
She grabbed the stick with a shaky hand and raised it.
"I love you. I'm so sorry," she cried.
He looked at her with love, and she turned her head as she stabbed him. She gasped, hearing footsteps running toward her, and turned, seeing Jason's father running into the room. He snarled, lunged at her and scratched her arm. She cried out and stabbed him in the head. She noticed the scratch on her arm and shook her head, thinking she was infected. She sobbed, dropped the stick, slid down the wall, and hugged her knees.
She noticed the wound started bleeding and gasped, watching it heal before her eyes. She sniffed, rubbed her arm, and saw a faint scar. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and felt a tingling sensation in the back of her mind.
