About the Book

DEAR MISS BOSSY, you are not the boss of me!

If you could write your BOSS a letter of grievances, what would you say? Would you be yourself? Would you be professional or become completely unhinged, and suffer the consequences? More importantly, would your response be out of character and how far would you go? In these evolving times of technological advancement, how would you communicate? Would you text, email, post it on social media, send a Direct Message, or a meet face-to-face? Or would you go old school, with plain ole pen to paper?

Well these employees let the Boss know that they have real feelings, real emotions, and real concerns of Family, Love and Life in this office. There is rage and tension in the office and the employees feel when their personal issues arise, the boss could care less. They understand a job has to be done, but they do have interruptions and devastations in their lives and they expect some understanding and support. Are they wrong?

Do you or have you worked in a toxic environment? Today, unattainable expectations, harassment, and demands to do more with less, often leave employees overworked, underpaid, insecure, and out of options. Why?
In Dear Miss Bossy, you are not the boss of me, you will observe how a few employees cope with the pressures of life and work. Drawing from real-life experience, Author Brenda Smokey McCray, presents interesting, dysfunctional, unapologetic and explicit examination of a day-in-the-life of eight office essentials that have had enough. Life, circumstance, loss, betrayal and pain have escalated to the point of explosion and expressed in letters to The BOSS!
The book is not about us versus them. Ms. McCray and Dear Miss Bossy takes a look at office relationships and ask you to consider your own actions and think about the ways in which you can work on improving your behavior and responses to difficult situations.

The objective is to provide empowering insight... if you want to be heard, taken seriously, respected, or just advance, the first step is taking ownership of our actions and responsibility for our relationships, but how do we get there? What are the essentials needed for maintaining mental, emotional, and physical well-being?
As you read this book, ask yourself...
Do you identify with any of the characters?
Were their grievances justified?
Do you agree with how they presented themselves? If no, why?
Did you agree with the Boss responses? If no, why?
After reading this book...
Do you accept that no person, and no relationship, is perfect, and why that is OK?
Do you recognize habits and patterns that commonly show up in your thinking and behaviors?
Does understanding what is really going on in someone's life shape what they say and can it help you communicate more effectively?
About the Author: Brenda McCray is a new Author on the scene. Her chosen way to write about office life is from personal experiences. Her comedy background allows her to have fun exploring the challenges employees face from home and the office while searching for balance between the two. Brenda has never been afraid to express her feelings to those in position of leadership, especially as her life has faced its personal interruptions. In her opinion, employees will always be the greatest asset to any work or business! She believes the people in power are just too self-absorbed to recognize the looming problems until it's too late.
Writing a letter to the boss may not be the thing for some to do. The intention of this whole thing is to start the conversation between office essentials and leadership about their expectations and aggravations. Employees are real people with real problems. An open-mindedness has to be present in the workforce. The boss may not like it when an employee expresses their feelings but allowing that open dialogue builds relationships, and lends itself to peace of mind and hopefully positive reinforcement that they will thank you for. This is only the beginning as Ms. McCray delves further into the lives of the Office Essentials.
