About the Book

Anger and resentment follow Otis Washington out of prison after spending eighteen years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. Two days later the judge that sentenced him is found shot to death on his party barge on the Blackwater Bay. Was it a revenge murder? Lieutenant Nick Melino of the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, believes Otis was framed and pledges to help clear his name. A web of deception reveals several other suspects have their own reason to kill the judge, including an ambitious State Attorney, a low-life twin brother, and a Ponzi schemer. Melino, determined to bring justice, follows the clues and his own intuition to unravel a drug trail, a case of mistaken identity, and a fraudulent investment company that leads to the acquittal of a man who should never have been accused in the first place.
About the Author: Sylvia Melvin's Bio Sylvia Melvin's affection for the written word has roots in her Canadian heritage. She grew up in a small village in northern Ontario at her family's fishing lodge. Often, books were her companions and she began journal writing as a young adult. Today, although she lives in Florida, she uses those experiences to entertain and educate her readers in the short stories and novels she writes. Sylvia presently works as an intervention reading teacher at W.H. Rhodes Elementary School in Milton, Florida. She enjoys teaching creative writing to her pupils and believes that reading and writing go hand in hand. As a founding member of the Panhandle Writer's Group, Sylvia feels the interaction between other members has motivated her to publish and market short stories and five novels: Summer Guest, a romance set in Canada, Helena: Unwavering Courage, the biography of her grandmother, Southern Sage: The Honorable Woodrow Melvin, a biography of a prominent Santa Rosa resident, Death Behind the Dunes and Death Beyond the Breakers, murder mysteries set on the coast of North West Florida. Sylvia likes to take her readers to places they have never visited, meet folks who arouse their emotions and leave them wanting to read more.
