Daniela und Michael, zwei achtjahrige Kinder, erzahlen einander gerne ihre Traume. Manchmal werden sie von den Mitschulern deswegen gehanselt. Noch ahnen die Kinder nicht, dass sie vom weisen Zauberer durch das Wolkenfenster beobachtet werden. Er hat so großen Gefallen an ihnen, dass er Michael und Daniela die Tur zu seiner Traumwelt offnet. Sie kommen ins Reich der Feen, die auf Webstuhlen die Stoffe weben, aus denen die Traume sind. Ein Boot bringt sie ans andere Ufer! Ein sanfter Windhauch blast durch das Geast eines Birnbaums mit goldenen Fruchten. Das ruft eine Fee mit einem Zauberstab herbei. Sie offnet fur die Kinder den Eingang in die geheime Welt hinter einem Wasserfall. Sie betreten das Reich der Zwerge, der Feen und des weisen Zauberers - eine verborgene Welt. Dort gelangen sie zu einer uralten Muhle und begegnen Wildgansen, mit denen sie durch die Lufte fliegen durfen. Auf verschlungen Pfaden finden sie den Eingang zur Diamantenhohle, wo ihre Ehrlichkeit gepruft wird. Weiter geht der Weg zu einer geheimen Burg, wo sie auf den alten Burgwachter treffen, der fur sie die Vorhange aufzieht. Sie erfahren Geheimnisse der unsichtbaren Welt, die nicht einmal Erwachsene kennen. Im Schlosspark wartet ein Einhorn auf die Kinder und fliegt mit ihnen an geheime Orte, die nur Kinderaugen sehen konnen.Eines Tages erwachen Daniela und Michael in einer Lotusblume und durfen auf dem Rucken von Harrysbal, dem Elefanten, sein Land entdecken. Der weise Zauberer hat große Freude an den zwei Kindern mit den guten Herzen. So holt er sie personlich ab und bringt sie zum alten Uhrmacher, zum Dirigenten Feigel, zum unbekannten Flotenspieler, zu Acello mit seinem geflugelten Pferd Kevin und zum Eremiten Philippe. Die Kinder merken bald, dass der weise Zauberer und seine vielen Gehilfen sehr verargert sind uber die Menschen, weil sie durch die Welt gehen, als ware die Erde ein Abfallkubel. Gut, dass es Kinder gibt! Sie sind die große Hoffnung fur die Zukunft. Das ist der Grund, warum die Kinder die Geheimnisse des weisen Zauberers erfahren durfen.
