El exilio es más que suceso; es una vivencia cotidiana, una marca imborrable; es detonante de una constante búsqueda por el ser que ha sido desplazado por la fuerza y la opresión. Desde un punto de vista literario y cultural, el exilio ha estado presente de múltiples formas desde la antigüedad -Las tristes de Ovidio, por ejemplo-, hasta la época contemporánea donde, de forma ejemplar, el destierro español republicano forjó su propia tradición. En América Latina hay también una importante genealogía de escritores e intelectuales que han sido exiliados por causa de las atrocidades de los golpes de Estado y las dictaduras. Una honda nostalgia, la reinvención del yo-sujeto de enunciación, el trazo difuso de los territorios, el saber que el exilio nunca terminará en sus vidas, marcan de forma determinante a los escritores y poetas que han vivido en carne propia este desplazamiento interminable. El presente libro surge del interés por dar a conocer esta tradición en la voz propia de algunos de los poetas latinoamericanos que bien pueden ser comprendidos dentro de esta tradición. Francisco Trejo emprende esta tarea que forma parte de un trabajo más amplio, y difunde las formas en que el exilio, específicamente el latinoamericano del siglo XX, se refleja de maneras intrincadas en la poética de nuestro continente. Como parte de esta labor, Trejo nos trae aquí a cuatro voces de dicha tradición: Homero Carvalho Oliva (Bolivia), Pedro Salvador Ale (Argentina), Saúl Ibargoyen (Uruguay) y Carlos López (Guatemala). El lector interesado encontrará en estas páginas diversas pistas sobre las formas en que estos autores llevan la vivencia del exilio a su poesía, pero quizá más importante aún, hallará esbozos de una comprensión más abarcadora de la manifestación poética, la cual encierra una constante reinvención de lo humano. Una muestra de su obra está incluida en la Antología general de la poesía mexicana. Poesía del México actual. De la segunda mitad del siglo XX a nuestros días (2014). Entre otros reconocimientos, obtuvo el VIII Premio Nacional de Poesía Ignacio Manuel Altamirano 2012, el XIII Premio Internacional Bonaventuriano de Poesía 2017 y el VI Premio Internacional de Poesía Paralelo Cero 2019.
