About the Book

THE DEVIL'S WORK is an intriguing suspense/thriller that parallels current day events. It flirts with the thin line between fiction and reality, the real and the surreal, and makes you wonder about the agendas of banks, governments, and social media companies.

The world is experiencing geological disasters, pandemics, drought, famine, and the rise of a powerful extremist group. As economies collapse, world leaders implement a single currency and rationing system to distribute the necessities of life. To ration worldwide, authorities will use a single currency and payment system. All payments will be electronic and authorization, or denial, controlled by a single database compiled with information gathered from government and social media such as, among other things, race, color, creed, etc.

Tom MacDonald, a management consultant, on his way home for Thanksgiving, learns about a conspiracy led by Wasim Mirza. Mirza is the Chairman of a leading credit card company and he plans to highjack the payment system on Christmas Day for his dark intentions. Tommy shares his suspicions with Claire O'Reilly, his girlfriend, and world news editor.

Tom and Claire investigate and enlist the help of friends in high places and companies involved in the conspiracy. The closer they get the more danger they, and those around them, face, but it only serves to strengthen their love and resolve. Tom and Claire don't know if they're living in end times, or bad times, but they will do everything they can to figure it out and stop Mirza.
About the Author: John Michael Gallagher was born and raised in Philadelphia. While he was a senior in High School, he met the love of his life. They married after graduation. The plan was to be a history teacher and track coach. But, like John Lennon said, Life is what happens while you're making plans. John became a systems officer at the bank, had three children, a mortgage, two cars, made good money and spent every dime. There was no going back. His career in banking, technology and marketing blossomed, as did his family. He was part of the five-person team that created the largest ATM network in the country and launched national credit and debit card processing services. The bank acquired a card processing company in Atlanta and asked John to move to run marketing for the new company. He never became a high school track coach, but he fit in coaching kids in track & field for twenty years. One morning he woke up and realized that until then he'd done what he had to do, and it was now possible to do what he wanted to do. He sold his company and began a career as an author. Experience in finance, sports, and life makes John's writing richer, layered, and more believable. He writes all his work for publication and adaptation to film. The freedom of writing fiction and the joy of entertaining readers is a dream fulfilled.
