About the Author:

Prof. (em) Dr. Ernst-Erich Doberkat hat Mathematik und Philosophie studiert, in Mathematik promoviert und wurde im Fach Informatik habilitiert. Er hat an verschiedenen Universitäten in Deutschland und den USA gelehrt und in vielfältigen Arbeitsgebieten geforscht: Er hat unter anderem die durchschnittliche Laufzeit von Sortieralgorithmen untersucht, mit Archäologen an der Anforderungsanalyse für archäologische Datenbanken gearbeitet, gemeinsam mit anderen Software-Technikern multimediale Lernsysteme für die universitäre Software Engineering-Ausbildung entworfen und implementiert und die algebraischen Grundlagen für das Verständnis von Logiken untersucht, die mit Wahrscheinlichkeiten arbeiten.
Auch nach seiner Emeritierung ist er aktiv und lehrt unter anderem in China und in Italien.
