Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 1,0, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Mein Eindruck ist, übertriebener Fernsehkonsum drängt vielfach den unmittelbaren Umgang der Menschen miteinander zurück. Wir alle haben selbst miterlebt, wie sehr dieses Medium unser Leben verändert hat - das politische Leben, das Leben jedes einzelnen, das Leben von Familien." 1978 ging Altbundeskanzler Helmut Schmidt mit diesen Worten an die Öffentlichkeit. Mit seinem "Plädoyer für einen fernsehfreien Tag" warb er um einen gemäßigten TV-Konsum. Man bedenke nochmals das Jahr dieser Ansprache: 1978! Seit gerade mal 24 Jahren gab es in Deutschland wieder Fernsehen. Nicht einmal ein viertel Jahrhundert hat es gedauert, bis ein Kanzler vor diesem Medium an sich warnt. Und genau dieser Umstand macht diese Sache so interessant. Dass ein führender Politiker oder Adliger vor Teilen eines Mediums warnt oder sie sogar verbietet, ist weit verbreitet in der Geschichte. Man denke nur an die Bücherverbrennungen der Nazis, die Skepsis gegenüber der freien Presse seitens der Staatenführer, die Angst vor Piratensendern durch die Britische Krone. Aber dass vor einem kompletten Medium gewarnt wurde, ist wahrlich selten und das, obwohl Schmidt offensichtlich sehr wohl klar war, worum es sich beim Fernsehen handelt: "Das Fernsehen ist ein sehr attraktives und bestimmendes. Medium. Das Gerät steht im Wohnzimmer, und es genügt ein Knopfdruck, um es einzuschalten. Es ist schwer, sich dieser Anziehungskraft zu entziehen und einen Schritt zu anderen Formen der Kommunikation zu machen." Worum es Schmidt aber vor allem ging, war die lange tägliche Sehdauer, welche werktags über zwei Stunden lag und am Wochenende sogar bei über drei Stunden. [...]
