About the Book

English summary: Volume 17 of the charters of the German kings and emperors contains 168 documents and letters by Manfred of Sicily, son of Frederick II., dating from the time of his regency until shortly before his death at Benevento. Of these, five letters from the collection of correspondence of Petrus de Vinea as well as the famous manifesto to the Romans of 1265 and the edict of foundation for Manfredonia of 1263 are of particular importance; the latter having been edited on the basis of a version that thus far had not been taken into consideration in previous research. In addition, the volume contains six forged certificates from the modern age and 131 edited Deperdita.
