Childhood trauma got you down?
Where Does Dad Go At Night is an adult humor children's book that satirizes our parents indiscretions. Told through the eyes, and imagination, of a child, it is full of bizarre fun stories of a young boy's Father and illustrated with brilliant pictures to showcase the abstract projections a child makes when they don't fully understand the adult world and don't really understand what their parents are involved with outside of their lives.
Dad's are always going to interesting places, doing mystical things with fascinating people, having a couple too many drinks, and then coming home full of stories of their adventures. Through a child's eyes we see an exciting world manifest; guided by his Father's tall tales of a life led outside the confines of parenthood. Dark and troubling parental behavior is reimagined by a young boy into the adventures of his greatest hero, Dad.
We all have a shared, sometimes troubled, history with our parents; but maybe their lives are less problematic behavior, and more unique adventure. With a change in perception, we take a look at the humanity of Dads, children, family, and laugh at the absurdity of our lives.
*A great coffee table book or gift for friends and family that know life is a tricky little biscuit and we"re all making it through one way or another.
*Every chapter is another night of Dad leaving and returning to his son to tell an abstract version of where he has been. These adventures include strip clubs, dog fights, fun ladies of the night, bar-hoping, and gobs upon gobs of being drunk.
*Fully illustrated in mixed mediums to illustrate each chapters narration. An underground dog fight gambling ring is just a social club where grown-ups go to watch dogs play together. A blackout drunk Father is a Dad entertaining his son by acting like a sea-sick peg-leg pirate. And away we go into the world of imagination.
*ENJOY AS AN ADULT relating to the very grown-up social situations, absurd look at modern parenting, comedic interpretations of childhood trauma and innuendo laced stories.
*ENJOY AS A CHILD as a fun story about a boy's Dad and his whimsical adventures and the vibrant imagery that accompanies each tale.
*ENJOY AS A PARENT taking solace in the shared experience of raising children, but finding time to be borderline dabaucherous.
*ENJOY AS A FAMILY as you and the kids take an adventure written for children, in the voice of a child with very adult innuendo only the grown-ups will be able to follow and relate to.
*Written in the hand, and mind, of a young child curious: Where Does Dad Go At Night?
*WARNING: ALTHOUGH MOSTLY VERY INNOCENT, 2 CURSE WORDS APPEAR IN THE END AS THE AUTHOR WAXES PHILOSOPHICAL ON THE HARDSHIP OF LIFE. Just in case that type of thing bothers you. Just ad-lib a more appropriate word when you read it to your kids. They'll love the improv skills you showcase and will never cause you any anxiety ever again. I'm certain that's how it will play out.
The perfect gift for those people you know that like to laugh at difficult situations. Be the most special guest at your next mandatory celebration when you give the coolest gift out of everyone to Rico for his 43rd birthday. Everyone around the office will be talking about you all the next week.
Ripe with meme-ability & inside-jokiness. And a fun way to rethink all those disappointing childhood memories you had bottled up.
Written by a Dad that understands the struggle of parentage and a son who always kept a good attitude when childhood got a little weird.
It's a really fun children's book like you've never seen before. Just buy it and all life's worries will disappear. CHEERS!
