About the Author: Patrick Modiano (Boulogne-Billancourt, 1945), hijo de padre judío y de actriz belga, es uno de los mayores escritores franceses contemporáneos, autor, entre otras novelas, de El lugar de la estrella (1968, galardonada con el Premio Roger Nimier y el Premio Fénéon), Los bulevares periféricos (1972, Gran Premio de Novela de la Academia Francesa), La calle de las tiendas oscuras (1978, Premio Goncourt), Domingos de agosto (1986), Viaje de novios (1990), Chien de printemps (1993), Joyita (2001), Un pedigrí (2005) y En el café de la juventud perdida (2007). Guionista de varias películas, en 1974 escribió junto al director de cine Louis Malle el guion de Lacombe Lucien, que aborda el tema del colaboracionismo durante la ocupación alemana de Francia. Su obra le ha merecido el Premio Nobel de Literatura 2014.
