Is there anything better than playing a good game of baseball with your best friends? Richie ("Bear") and Jerry ("the Duck") don't think so. The two meet on the first day of kindergarten and start a lifelong friendship based on their love of sports, action, and adventure. Bear and the Duck share their passion for sports with four other kindergartners: Dale, Tommy, Phillip, and Rickie. All four are granted nicknames of their own, and Bear, the Duck, Peaches, Froggy, Philly, and Rick go on to form the Double Digit Gang.
As the six grow up, they never let their differences get in the way of their friendship. Pranks, dares, jokes, nicknames, and, of course, games fill their days. About the Author: Bob Veltidi spent his career as a physical education teacher, wrestling and football coach, and high school athletic director. Even after retirement, he remained active at his old school. He still loves cheering on the players at Suffern High School's many sports events.
Veltidi and his wife of forty-five years, Judy, live in Suffern, New York. They are the proud parents of two grown children, Sally and Douglas, and one adorable new granddaughter, Katherine.
