Alicia is one of the most remarkable women I have had the pleasure to meet. She is strong, but laid-back, elegant, educated; her speech is slow-paced, but accurate. With her words, she emanates determination and conviction. No matter what topic you discuss with her, it won't be long before you discover that her painful journey did not silence her courage or break her faith.
I've spoken with and advised hundreds of people through the years about the lack of peace in their lives, and how they struggle to escape the devastating consequences of being faced with a crisis. Be it due to a loss, financial catastrophe, emotional disillusion, betrayal of a partner, or any possible situation when the unforeseen has come to knock on their door, people are rarely prepared to say "come in, I was expecting you!"
In those moments, worry becomes the unavoidable guest; as life steps into a labyrinth with no light at the end.
As God's servant, it has been an honor to help people in different processes, and
I am convinced that personal mentorship and companionship is sometimes what we
need to start putting our lives back together with the broken pieces; broken pieces of
emotions, finances, or families.
I must admit that having had the chance to mentor Alicia fills me with profound admiration because it speaks of who she is, of her great ability to see the story of another woman, alien to her life.
Alicia took my story as inspiration to not dwell on the post-event trauma, and decide to carry on with her life, and not just in any way...
I met her at an event where I was invited to preach the word of God, and at the end of the meeting, she came up to me and told me: "I was just able to read and learn about your story through the book Estafa al Corazón [Con to the Heart], and that was the most efficient therapy session that God put in my hands to emotionally recover and get back to health after the most traumatic event I'd experienced in my entire life."
