About the Book

Joachim Matschoss is a playwright and poet born in Germany, now living in Australia. In his work, poet and dramatist, Joachim Matschoss converges on minute details of the actual world as he experiences it, but he also explores deeper and darker regions on his many real and imaginary journeys. It's as if we have to play catch-up to stay in touch with this prolific, warm and playful voice. his yelping suitcase bursts with dreams in stock and store who nicked the corkscrew? (TERRY McDONAGH) The structured form of the haiku in this new collection allowed Matschoss to create poignant snapshots of his journeys and experiences. (PAUL MURREY) Poems and haiku rooted in ordinary life are at the heart of this new collection but there are also weird and amusing imaginings and observations that extensive travel seems to prompt. (FRANCINE McGLYNN)
About the Author: Joachim Matschoss is a playwright and poet. He has written over twenty plays, performed in Australia, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA and has published numerous collections of poetry, among them southbound, the anarchy of water, under a migrant moon, snow in december, sleepgrains and the hour of the wolf, in which he combined with photographer Jesse Marlow (1997 to 2007). His first novel, dead river oaks, was published in the USA in 2006. In October 2008 his literary journal, away with me, was published followed by his most extensive "meditation on solitude", a spider taps its feet in unison, in December 2010. In the following three years, he focussed mainly on writing for theatre and production. Then in December 2013 a new anthology was published; thieves of time comprised poems stemming from many parts of the world "snapshots of life ... snatched moments in time". dreams from a suitcase is the tenth book published by PenFolk Publishing for Joachim Matschoss.
