About the Book

Sydhavnen er en udskældt bydel med negative statistikker om alt. Så hvorfor dog skrive en bog om dette forfærdelige sted? Svaret er enkelt. Sydhavnen var det perfekte sted for en dreng fra midten af 1940-erne til midten af 1960-erne. Her var og er forskellige mennesker. Også de skæve. Her var store, grønne gårde og haveforeninger med små huse med haver. Eksotisk var Fiskerihavnen med sine skure og steder, hvor vi kunne fiske. Ved slusen kunne vi lege og på den yderste havnemole kunne vi bade i det snavsede vand. Politiet kom og råbte at det var ulovligt, men vi svømmede bare væk. Vi fik ofte skrammer og forstuvninger, da vi drenge fra Sydhavnen var modige. Måske dumdristige er et bedre dækkende ord. Vi legede Kongen og hans efterfølgere. Gjorde man ikke som Kongen, faldt man i hierarkiet. Hvem ville det?
About the Author: Jan Arnt er uddannet arkitekt og har i sit voksenliv skrevet et væld af artikler om arkitektur og byudvikling. De senere år også artikler om lokalhistorie, en interesse, der er vokset, hvorfor han i 2013 sprang ud som forfatter med bogen "Dreng af Sydhavnen", som handler om hans opvækst i Sydhavnen i 1950 og 60 erne. Bogen nåede hurtigt stor popularitet, da den samtidig var en beskrivelse af bydelen Sydhavnen og de mange mennesker, han havde mødt på sin vej. I 2015 og 2018 blev Dreng af Sydhavnen atter udgivet, men suppleret med nye historier og flere fotos af Sydhavnen, så folk i bydelen begyndte at kalde den Sydhavnsbogen. I 2016 skrev Jan Arnt jubilæumsbogen Kgs. Enghave Lokalhistoriske Arkiv 30 år samt en mindre bog om kunstmaleren Rudolf Helfrich Vores hemmelige malerier. I 2017 udgav han bogen Vindinge Historier, der beskriver en landsby og dens mennesker og hvor teksten, som i hans øvrige bøger suppleres af fotos og egne illustrationer. Jan Arnt har altid tegnet og malet, hvorfor han i 2018 udgav bogen Streger og Farver, en kalejdoskopisk rejse, hvor han har samlet mange af sine tegninger, malerier og collager og suppleret dem med korte tekster. En bog der viser, at han udover at skrive, også er ganske ferm med pen og farver.
