Dass ein solcher mit dem umfassenden Wandel der Rahmenbedingungen der Kriegfuhrung, aber auch des literarischen Marktes (Erfindung des Drucks!) im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert korrelierte, durfte kaum uberraschen; doch stellen sich die Neuerungen je nach Gattung und Funktion hochst unterschiedlich dar, finden sich neben dynamisch-innovativen Tendenzen auch ausgesprochen wandelresistente Zuge. So erhellt das Buch auch frappierende Gleichzeitigkeiten von Ungleichzeitigem an der Epochenschwelle zur Neuzeit.
