Dysphagia Assessment and Treatment Planning Workbook: A Team Approach, Fourth Edition was designed as a companion to the textbook, Dysphagia Assessment and Treatment Planning, by Dr. Rebecca Leonard and Dr. Katherine Kendall. The fourth edition of the textbook is ideal for graduate dysphagia courses in speech-language pathology programs and has been updated with a new organizational scheme and new and revised content throughout. The workbook reflects these changes and also includes a new PluralPlus companion website with multimedia content unique to the workbook. Based on Dr. Julie Barkmeier-Kraemers experience teaching and training graduate students and colleagues in the area of dysphagia, a variety of activities and questions are included in the workbook to facilitate understanding and engagement of each chapter in the associated textbook. The workbook includes quiz questions, figure labeling, case-based problem solving, application of videofluorographic and FEES measures or ratings, as well as report writing. Answers or model responses are provided at the end of the workbook for the readers reference. The activities and questions provided in the Dysphagia Assessment and Treatment Planning Workbook, Fourth Edition will help readers improve their understanding and implementation of clinical instruction in the area of dysphagia and can be used by students or practicing clinicians hoping to add new skills to their repertoires.

About the Author

Julie Barkmeier-Kraemer, PhD, CCC-SLP is a professor in the Department of Otolaryngology AÂ Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, Davis. She is also a member of the Voice-Speech-Swallowing Center team, an affiliated member of the Center for Neuroscience and member of the faculty for the Neuroscience Graduate Group. Dr. Barkmeier-Kraemer received her undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa and completed postdoctoral research with Dr. Christy Ludlow at the National Institutes of Health. She served on the faculty for 14 years in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences faculty at the University of Arizona where she developed and taught a graduate course in Dysphagia. Dr. Barkmeier-Kraemer is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is also an ASHA Fellow. Dr. Barkmeier-KraemerAÂ s primary research addresses the sensorimotor controls of the larynx for respiration, voicing, and swallowing.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Rebecca Leonard, PhD is a professor in the Dept. of Otolaryngology/HNS at the University of California, Davis. She is also the Clinical Director of the Voice-Speech-Swallowing Center in the ENT Clinic at the U. C. Davis Medical Center. Her clinical and research interests are in the areas of voice and swallowing. A particular focus has been the videofluoroscopic investigation of normal and disordered swallowing, including changes in swallowing associated with aging. Other research areas have included the effects of ablative procedures on speech, and tissue changes in the vocal folds associated with aversive stimuli. Dr. Rebecca Leonard received her undergraduate training at Indiana University. Her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are from Purdue University. She is a member of the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, and she is an ASHA Fellow.
