About the Author: Dr. Dennis Dunham was a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Korea teaching English to Middle School boys. With 70 students in a class, he was challenged to learn the best methods possible. During this time, he begin to notice that students who learned by listening first, instead of speaking first, had the best pronunciation and acquired the language the fastest. Later when he pursued his PhD in Educational Psychological he became excited about the research, which showed the effectiveness of the "listening first" approach. Dr. Dunham believes that the textbooks should be put aside in the early stages and focus on the sounds and expressions of the languages. However, he wanted students to be excited and motivated by the sounds they heard so when he teamed up with friend, Kyle Dillingham, a world-class performer and artist who also spoke fluent French, Language and Lyrics was born. Dr. Dunham has headed up the Department of Global Affairs at the University of Central Oklahoma and was also Vice President of International Affairs at Oklahoma City University for 16 years. He was recently named the Honorary Consul Of Korea for the State of Oklahoma. As a member of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors, he received their Outstanding Service Award. He has to his credit "The Malaysian American Society Leadership Award" and "The Leadership Award" by Management Development Institute of Singapore. Received "The Distinguished Leadership Award" from Oklahoma City University Malaysian Alumni Association. Published three bestselling books through YBM Publishing, Seoul, Korea, "You Know What #1" (1987); "You Know What #2" (1988); "To Teach a Fish to Swim" (1987). He finished his first novel published by Tate Publishing, "The Good Luck Side of the Rice Paper Door", released in the fall of 2012, a novel which incorporated many of his international experiences and founded the Journal of Transformative Learning in 2012.
