About the Book

A total solar eclipse is one of nature's grandest spectacles. People often flock by the thousands to witness the sun's brilliant corona, if even for only two minutes. In 1991, a plan formulated to witness the 2017 Great American Eclipse. Through years of research and planning, the author's pursuit of totality was not without incident. "Hey love, I think this bull is charging toward us!" This book tells the tale of how two photographers beat all odds. Their experiences, including nightmare traffic jams, overzealous ranchers, and a raging 2,000-pound wild bull are documented as though the events happened yesterday. Photographers Steve and Christine Rosenow recall their thrilling encounter on a hot August weekend in Madras, Oregon. Complete with photos, this book tells how they came out alive with their greatest photos (and memories) of a lifetime!
About the Author: Steve Rosenow is an accomplished photographer, with published appearances in trade magazines and in print and broadcast. A number of his photos have been shown in documentaries, on local and national news, as well as a two-time appearance in Ripley's Believe it or Not! annual publications. An avid weather guru and astronomer, his contributions can be seen frequently on Seattle's KOMO-TV 4. He grew up in the Port Orchard and Purdy area of Washington state as a child, and spent his adolescence growing up in the small community of Shelton, Washington. From a very young age, he always saw the night sky as being full of wonder and amazement. Christine Rosenow was born and raised in Olympia, Washington, having spent her entire childhood and adolescence in the same neighborhood. Like her husband, she shares an equal passion for nature and photography. She also enjoys cooking, and is known for making an exceptional batch of shrimp scampi. Her accomplishments include winning second-place titles in baking contests at the Thurston County Fair, and like her husband, has had a number of photos published through Seattle's KOMO-TV.
