Dear artist, I would like to share some of my talents with you. You all will see that the projects in this instruction book are for your pleasure.
The artworks are good for copy and practicing and will help sharpen your skills as an artist.
What you will learn in this book are as follows:
Step-by-step sketches and instructions on some of the artwork that I have created.
Step by step on how to draw and paint in oils.
Colors to use.
Laying down color wash primers.
Laying in the finished paint.
I start with a subject mostly a photo and start sketching lightly to get a likeness of my subject with HB
pencil.
Lightly sketching the subject. Don't be heavy-handed with the graphite. If you are just starting, do some
practice sketches before going to your surface. When you have the right sketch, move to the surface.
Prepare your paint palette with the colors that are needed. Use a mild paint thinner. Odorless is better.
Add a little linseed oil for better paint follow. Here are some paint mediums that can help:
Brushes less costly to start. You can find six to seven in a pack.
Fine liners and flat.
Fine liners for small details.
Linseed oil for that glossy look.
Stands oil to paint wet longer.
Use oil paints that are not as costly if you are just beginning, then get a better one once your tech
improves.
These will help keep your painting process and following free. Once all the supplies are gathered, start
creating art.
These are the colors that are needed: burnt umber, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, ultramarine blue,
and white. Put all these colors on your palette. You can start with playing with one color first to get the feel
of it. You don't need to use many of these colors. A little goes a long way.
