Dafür wird im ersten Schritt die Unterrichtsvideografie in einem Protokoll zusammengefasst. Im nächsten Schritt folgt die Analysearbeit, bevor im letzten Schritt die Ergebnisse zusammengefasst werden (Fazit). Bei der vorliegenden Unterrichtsvideografie aus dem Jahr 2016 handelt es sich um eine Sportstunde (60 Minuten) zum Thema "Bodenkampf". Insgesamt nehmen 14 SuS einer siebten Klasse eines Gymnasiums an der Unterrichtstunde teil. Als Analyseschemata werden die von Meseth und Kollegen beschriebene Sach-, Zeit- und Sozialdimension verwendet. Diese Dimensionen werden von Meseth und Kollegen wir folgt beschrieben: "Unterricht ist zentriert um die Darstellung kultureller Repräsentation, d.h. er hat ein Thema (Sachdimension); er findet in einer bestimmten Schule/Klasse statt und ist in einen rechtlichen und organisatorischen Rahmen eingebettet, der Erwartungen über die Art und Weise formuliert, wie miteinander interagiert und kooperiert wird [...] (Sozialdimension); und er ist Teil einer Sequenz von vergangenen und künftigen Einheiten, die wiederum Anfang und ein absehbares Ende haben (Zeitdimension)." (Meseth et al., 2011) Zudem ist das von Breidenstein beschriebene "Ethnografische Beobachten" von zentraler Bedeutung für diese Arbeit. Das Ethnographisches Beobachten ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, schulischen Unterricht als eine "fremde Kultur" zu betrachten, mit dem Ziel in diesem vertrauten Geschehen Neues zu entdecken. Der Ethnograph beobachtet das Unterrichtsgeschehen mit dem einzigen Interesse der präzisen Beschreibung. Thiel und Kollegen fassten die Gesichtspunkten des Klassenmanagem
