About the Book

"The Beginning" is a fantasy story that is set in the world of Sarm, a place that is in danger of being taken over by a wizard with evil intentions. When Rage Lawson finds himself in this world, he boldly takes the responsibility that has been given him and works to defeat Boca.

Rage is a middle-aged man who is trying to get over the death of his wife when his car drifts off the road in a snowstorm. He is sent over the cliff and wakes up and finds himself imprisoned in the rocks at the foot of the cliff. For several days, he tries to get loose and can't. He then sees two armies battling and approaching him. During the battle a great wizard is killed and falls on top of where Rage is imprisoned. Rage feels an electric shock.

After the battle, Rage eventually frees himself from the rock. He then searches for anyone still alive. He finds three people still alive and brings them back to the foot of the cliff where he was imprisoned. Two die but the third lives.

His name is Troy, and he explains how Sarm may soon be under the power of Boca. In Troy's and Rage's journey back to Troy's hometown, Rage discovers his powers. They discover that the town has been all but destroyed. While helping to rebuild the town, Rage discovers further powers and feels himself drawn to a distant location.

From here, Rage is taken on a great journey during which he grows as a wizard. He also discovers several wizard towers that had been set up and uses the books in them for study; powers and spells not formerly known seem to come to him naturally. One of his greatest powers is healing, a power that he uses on a small boy named Ampy, who has lived a difficult life. Along the way, Troy-now a wizard- falls in love with Oreal, a woman Rage had rescued; Rage on the other hand, get more than he bargained for when he discovers hi is married to a woman named Lu, after sleeping in her tent for one night.

Sherock, the greatest of the blue wizards, is instrumental in stopping Boca on his mad rampage. However, Rage knows that Boca will gain power again and that he must be prepared to stop him when the time comes.
