Tod und Sterben in der mittelalterlichen Literatur", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Arbeit untersucht die gegenübergestellten Auffassungen von Ehe, Frauen und Liebe aus dem Streitgespräch zwischen Tod und Ackermann im spätmittelalterlichen Werk Tepls. "Der Ackermann aus Böhmen" des Johannes von Tepl entstand um das Jahr 1400 und eröffnet dem Leser einen Einblick in ein Streitgespräch zwischen dem Ackermann und der Figur des Todes. Der Text ist dabei in 34 Kapitel gegliedert, im Rahmen dessen sich die Teilnehmer in einem verbalen Schlagabtausch abwechselnd ausdrücken. Grund für die Auseinandersetzung der Gesprächspartner ist dabei der plötzliche Tod der Frau des Ackermanns, Margarethe, weshalb dieser seine hasserfüllte Anklage an die Todesfigur richtet, um seine Trauer zu bewältigen. Unbeeindruckt von dem ihm entgegengebrachten Affront, rechtfertigt der Tod sein Tun als natürliches Gesetz und brüstet sich mit seiner überirdischen Macht, über jegliches Leben auf Erden zu richten. Tepls Text bietet ein maßgebliches Analysepotenzial auf rhetorisch-argumentativer Ebene. "Der Ackermann" reflektiert grundlegend ontologische Fragen, so bietet er zahlreiche innovative Perspektiven auf das menschliche Sein, den Tod und dem damit verbundenen Lebensprinzip. Jahraus beschreibt die Figur passend als einen Menschen, der sich einer Macht entgegenstellt, die sich außerhalb seiner Wahrnehmung befindet und vehement gegen ihn wirkt. In einem Prozess der Selbstbehauptung versucht er seinen Verlust zu bewältigen, doch letztlich gelangt dieses Vorhaben an die Grenzen des Mensch-seins. Die "conditio humana" fordert, dass die Figur des Ackermanns mit diesem Umstand des Todes seiner Frau leben muss, was für die Anerkenntnis des Lebensprinzips steht:
