Markus erzählt, warum er Grit bespitzelte. Iris und Thomas bekriegen sich täglich im Büro, ohne dass Ihre Vorgesetzte Kathrin eingreift. Zehn, miteinander verwobene Erzählungen über Liebe, Tod und Einsamkeit, über Verstri-ckungen, deren Fäden die DDR-Vergangenheit mit der Gegenwart verknoten. Besonders der Friedhof zieht sie immer wieder an. Fünfzig Tomás fürchtet sich seit Jahren vor seinem fünfzigsten Geburtstag, weil er glaubt, dass ein Fluch über seiner Familie liegt. Sein Vater und seine beiden Brüder sind wenige Tage vor ihrem dem fünfzigsten Geburtstag gestorben. Er erinnert sich an die Menschen, die er schon verloren hat, an sein erstes Leben in Südamerika. Tag für Tag glaubt er das hämisch grin-sende Gesicht des Todes zu sehen. Sonntagnachmittag Beate verbringt wie immer den Sonntagnachmittag in der Einsamkeit ihrer Betonwabe.
