Ingrid pretende basarse en la presencia de unos reinos donde las deidades eran femeninas, como la gran Diosa Madre. Asimismo explora en la transición que tiene lugar de unos dioses maternos a unos dioses paternos, a través de la mitología clásica griega, de los héroes Orestes y Teseo ante el Minotauro, y la diosa Atenea y el dios Dionisos. Ottfreid es también un profesor, que con sus oscuros ojos que crecen y rebosan sinceridad, trata de llamar al corazón de Ingrid.
La Diosa Madre y Demeter Erinys son adoradas reverencialmente y representan a las Erinias o derecho de la sangre y de las furias por defender la línea genealógica de la madre. Es una fuerza de verdadera vida porque es vida sacrificial que se derrama, contrapuesta a otras fuerzas que surgirán después en Occidente, pero que se relacionan con ella a través las diosas Demeter e Ishtar, en la figura de diosa-mujer-madre.
"En la época prehistórica cuando la humanidad era pequeña, la duración de la vida corta y la mortalidad infantil grande, la capacidad reproductora de la mujer fue la principal oportunidad de supervivencia para el clan, la horda o la estirpe. Se recelaba, no obstante, de la fertilidad femenina, no reconocida aún como una consecuencia del apareamiento, sino como la intervención de un poder numinoso, lo que otorgó a la mujer una especial significación, un carácter mágico. Ella era un misterio primordial. El padre, por el contrario, seguía siendo desconocido, tanto como el dios padre. La Gran Madre, sin embargo, no está ligada sólo con la tierra, con lo telúrico. Su destello se extiende, ya entre los sumerios, "por la ladera del Cielo", es "Señora del Cielo", diosa de la estrella Ishtar, la Estrella de la Mañana y el Atardecer, con la que es identificada hacia el 2000 a. C., es Belti, como también la denominan los Babilonios, es decir, literalmente, "Nuestra Señora"; es según Apuleyo, "señora y madre de todas las cosas", la santa, clemente y misericordiosa, la virgen, una diosa que, sin quedar embarazada, da a luz".
