En los albores del siglo actual un joven argentino, animado por su familia, cruza el océano y va a estudiar veterinaria a Córdoba. España.

Ya en la ciudad andaluza, familiarizado con el ambiente y a causa de las amistades que frecuenta, a la sazón compañeros de facultad, llega a interesarse por el arte flamenco y esto a permitirle descubrir a un compatriota suyo, Anselmo González Climent, que en 1955 publicara el ensayo Flamencología. Una obra muy celebrada entre los aficionados de entonces y, por ello, uno distinguido, el poeta cordobés Ricardo Molina, lo leyese y a cuenta se interesase por proponer insistentemente al alcalde de la época en Córdoba y luego al escritor bonaerense, la convocatoria para el mes de mayo de 1956 de un Concurso de Cante Jondo que, retomando la idea del de Granada de 1922, contribuyese a respaldar la importancia del incipiente Festival de los Patios Cordobeses y, lo más importante para él y el autor del libro: la recuperación y depuración del cante flamenco más hondo. Así, y al margen de sus estudios veterinarios y su estrenada afición, el joven argentino llegado allende el océano conocerá a una cantaora gaditana, establecida en la ciudad califal, de la que irremisiblemente se prenderá para, por circunstancias íntimas de ésta, no ser correspondido.

Frustración que superará dedicándose con más ahínco a sus estudios y a desentrañar la importancia del compatriota, con la cercana presencia de una compañera de aula, siempre pronta a colaborar y estar con él, con el inconfesado deseo de ser algo más que una circunstancia pasajera en su vida.EL AUTOR

Desde siempre se interesó por la lectura en general, pero nunca escribió nada. Le gusta el arte flamenco, y ello le animó hace años a incorporarse como socio en la peña El Rincón Flamenco de Córdoba. También, desde hace algunos lustros lo es del Ateneo de la misma ciudad, en donde ha colaborado en su sección de flamenco.

Desde noviembre de 2010, con motivo del trienal Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco que se celebra en Córdoba, a petición de un responsable, asumió con el diario El Día escribir la crónica y crítica de espectáculos flamencos.

Antes, quedándole tiempo libre a partir de su jubilación, decidió poner en orden algunos apuntes que años atrás fue guardando, con la pretensión de intentar escribir algunas novelas, entre ellas El Argentinoa la que ha dado forma también como ensayo, incluyéndose en la nómina de quienes reivindican la figura de un estudioso y brillante ensayista de flamenco, hispano argentino, fallecido hace varias décadas: Anselmo González Climent.
