About the Book

Dr. Abdalla Rashad Tau is the Founder of The Exposure Foundation, Inc., the platform he utilizes to introduce individuals to ideas and experiences outside of their immediate belief system and physical environment. His sophomore book, Embracing Toby, is a work that is definitely "outside of the box" and a great follow-up to his first book, Delinquent to Doctor. Embracing Toby was developed to be thought provoking and ignite conversations throughout the African Diaspora of how we can extinguish cancerous mindsets, behaviors, and rituals that were planted in our minds, bodies, and spirits during a time of overt European Colonialism, Trickery, and the rewriting of history. Embracing Toby will highlight various characteristics of the African community that are counterproductive to its existence. The purpose of Embracing Toby is not to point fingers or place blame on present or past villains. Nor is the purpose to influence individuals to hate or have malice in their heart toward their fellow man. I want us to self-assess and gauge what works and what does not work in our lives. Hopefully, self-reflection and being open to change may create more optimal levels of mental, physical, and spiritual health.
About the Author: A native of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Abdalla Rashad Tau has developed a genuine partnership with the local citizens and community of DeKalb County. Dr. Tau is committed to cultivating consciousness, scholarship, cultural awareness, healthy living, and universal thought in individuals domestically and abroad, with an emphasis on positive exposure through various experiences. Dr. Tau believes that education is a continuous process that is influenced by parental, school, and community factors, as well as through self-discovery. As an accomplished educator and entrepreneur, Dr. Tau has earned a variety of degrees including a B.S. degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing, a M.A. in Marketing and Communication, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to an extensive background in education, Dr. Tau's affiliations extend to business interests stemming from earned certifications as a real estate broker and personal fitness trainer, and also a veteran of the United States Air Force. Dr. Tau is an avid traveler, visiting over 38 countries on seven different continents, and teaching in a small school district in Tottori, Japan. The experience of moving to Japan and living in a remote village was invaluable. Hence, the vision of The Exposure Foundation was realized. Dr. Tau understands that exposure to various levels of education, travel, positive encounters with people and experiences, and domestic/international travel has been the reason for his evolution from a juvenile delinquent to a doctor that mentors youth. Dr. Tau believes that providing today's youth with inimitable opportunities will foster success and the encouragement needed to help young individuals avoid many of the pitfalls life may present. Ultimately, as an educator, Dr. Tau is a life-long learner who believes in education versus indoctrination. He believes in teaching individuals how to think and look at life through a universal lens, creating citizens that will make positive contributions to a world society. Dr. Tau's experiences and world travels have helped expand his horizons and desire to share knowledge, expertise and forethought with students through the efforts of his non-profit corporation, "The Exposure Foundation." Dr. Tau further supports his community through his affiliations with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The Omega Manhood Leadership Institute. The aforementioned accomplishments are just a prelude for what the future holds for Dr. Tau.
