About the Book

Oral health care education author DR Garth Pettit has released his latest book titled "To Enjoy Whole Mouth Health Paint Your Mouth", published by Create Space. His oral hygiene instruction "Paint Your Mouth" prevents tooth decay, gum diseases and other costly dental bills. Pettit also claims it will also reduce incidences later in life of several adult related diseases including heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer's Disease, dementia some types of diabetes. For many centuries dentists and more recently also dental therapists and dental hygienists have advised the hygiene instruction "Brush Your Teeth" with a tooth brush and tooth paste. But the author claims patients need a whole-of-mouth oral hygiene instruction to predictably eliminate common oral diseases. "Paint Your Mouth" is Dr Pettit's whole-of-mouth instruction that he has advised successfully since 2002. DR Garth Pettit graduated in dentistry at the University of Adelaide, South Australia in November 1953. Worked in private, general, dental practices in Australia, England and Australia again until retiring, aged 60, in 1991. 5 years later his granddaughter was diagnosed with mild tooth decay. Angry with himself for failing her he committed himself to this mission: "Prevent Oral Diseases in Children". "To Enjoy Whole Mouth Health Paint Your Mouth" contains detailed instructions on how to "Paint Your Mouth". There are 3 simple steps. Removing plaque from all surfaces within the mouth. Thoroughly rinsing with water, to eliminate harmful elements from the mouth. Finally "paint" tooth paste ingredients over all mouth surfaces. The book has many colourful mouth models to accompany the description of how to paint your mouth and a special section of fun for children. An article in Dr Pettit's website, www.PaintYourMouth.com/two-special-teachers-in-east -arnhemland gives a description of how Dr Pettit discovered "Brush Your Teeth" to be a poor oral hygiene instruction. He then performed a Strength, Weakness. Opportunity, Analysis of "Brush Your Teeth". The SWOT Analysis exposed many weaknesses. He then set out to find the ideal oral, totally oral, oral hygiene instruction. In 2002 he named it "Treat Your Mouth". In 2007 it became "Paint Your Mouth" when he asked a classroom of children "would you like me to show you how to paint your mouth?". The classrooms' loud, spontaneous cries of YES decided the result: a change of name to "Paint Your Mouth". Dr Pettit retired from dental practice unexpectedly in late 1997 because of his wife's ill health. Using the knowledge from his research he began publishing eBooks with Amazon. These eBooks he now intends to publish as books with Create Space. It is also widely accepted that long term gum disease contributes to the occurrence of, heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, diabetes later in life. "Paint Your Mouth" keeps the gingivae always healthy, greatly reducing the incidence of these diseases. For many centuries dentists, and more recently also dental therapists and dental hygienists, have advised the hygiene instruction "Brush Your Teeth" with a tooth brush and tooth paste. Their instructions have recently been changing but they continue to focus only on cleaning bacteria filled plaque from tooth enamel surfaces and from the gingivae (gum) surrounding each tooth and from the gingival crevice, the tiny piece of gum that does not adhere to teeth and in which bacteria dwell. The rest of the mouth is not mentioned! Plaque, food and drink, medicine remnants etc. are left in the mouth. Those mouths are left dirty and unprotected. "Paint Your Mouth" overcomes that problem! 21 June 2010: "Hi Dr Pettit, I am applying your advice regarding cleaning my whole mouth and leaving the toothpaste in my mouth after the second application. I would like to report to you that the total absence of plaque on my teeth is nothing short of amazing - I have struggled with this all my life. Regards, Judy Le Cornu" ex-dental nu
About the Author: Dr. Garth Pettit attended University of Adelaide, School of Dentistry from 1949 to 1953 and attained his Graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in November 1953. Then had General Dental Practices in: - Port Lincoln, South Australia 1954 to 1956 - U.K. from 1953 to 1980: - South Eastern suburbs London and Chislehurst Kent; - Derbyshire, Swanwick, Ripley and Ashbourne. - Australia, Northern Territory from 1981 to 1991: Alice Springs - Retired from dental practice in December 1991 In July 1996 his youngest granddaughter was diagnosed with mild tooth decay in an upper front baby tooth. Horrified and angrily blaming himself and his profession he created a mission; Prevent Oral Diseases in Children. This required him to be a Government dentist working with children, parents and schools. He returned to dental practice in January 1997 to research for proposed books to accomplish this mission: Prevent Oral Diseases in Children. Fortunately, because all mouths are similar, his answers to preventing oral diseases in children also apply to every mouth in the world; to children and adults in every country in the world. His simple, logical, makes-sense and proven answer to preventing oral diseases is DO NOT Brush Your Teeth (a 15th Century tooth cleaning instruction created by a Chinese Emperor, a non dentist and patented the first tooth brush made with bristles taken from the back of a Siberian hog's neck that were cemented into bone or bamboo handles). The Emperor had become alarmed at the rapid demise in rich peoples teeth as the sugar trade spread from New Guinea around the equator. Only rich people's teeth - poor people were saved from tooth enamel destruction because then they could not afford to buy sugary things. At the time of writing these latter comments (15 January 2016) millions of children and adults all over the world are battling the disastrous affects from TO MUCH SUGAR in almost every food and drink. Dr. Pettit's oral hygiene instruction, Paint Your Mouth, will predictably prevent all common oral diseases and greatly reduce the incidence of many common adult diseases; heart attacks, strokes, atherosclerosis, Alzheimers disease, diabetes and dimentia. Dr Garh D Pettit was recognized as Who's Who Professional of the Year 2015-2016. Spoke at 4th Asia Pacific Dental Congress & Expo on Dental & Oral Health Bribane. Dr Pettit was a keynote speaker and Session Chairman at the 18th Asia-Pacific Oral Care Congress November 21-23 2016 Melbourne Australia.
