About the Book

"No country on Earth that participated in the atrocities of the transatlantic slave trade has ever meaningfully atoned for these horrific acts. The United States of America - 'the land of the free and home of the brave' - will be the first. We have all heard the universal expression, 'Education is the key, ' and indeed it is. The whole world recognizes that the most effective solution to reducing poverty and crime is to increase education. This brief publication outlines, in simple terms, the basic tenets and principles supporting the U.S. African American Restoration Act." -Proposed U.S. Federal legislation authored by Isaias Gamboa. The purpose of this publication is to educate and inspire a grassroots effort to enact this historic legislation, which will entitle African Americans - without prejudice, to unencumbered post-secondary federal education entitlements. This is not a new idea, but one whose time has come. The United States of America, while self-identifying as the 'leader of the free world, ' still carries the moral burden of its original sin - slavery. Even today, many African Americans are treated like second class citizens. In November of 2016, the Republican party elected Donald J. Trump - a man whose unapologetic racism towards Blacks has been well documented - to be our 45th president. In an expression of their profound disapproval, 92-percent of African Americans voted against him. Still, Trump emerged victorious. It is now clearer than ever that American Blacks can no longer rely solely on any political party or special interest group to effectively defend and represent their interests. We must educate ourselves and our descendants in order to escape the chains that still bind us. It is time for African Americans, like the Hebrews of Egypt, to rise up and enter the Promised Land."
About the Author: Isaias Gamboa was born in San José, Costa Rica to parents of Spanish and African ancestry. He was born of Jewish lineage but in America, was raised in both Baptist and Catholic traditions - being the respective religious traditions of his parents. He self-describes himself as a faithful, devout follower of Jesus Christ and student of the Holy Bible. In the early 1960's, carrying a trunkful of rich culture with them, his family emigrated to the US making their home in the West Adams area of Los Angeles, California. Isaias was raised by devoutly Christian parents of different races, who believed that love, kindness and compassion for the poor and needy were the only true measures of divine faith and discipleship. Throughout his childhood, he travelled to many countries with his family and witnessed his parents demonstrating many acts of love and kindness to the poor and needy. Since 1999, Isaias has travelled to many Latin American countries in expression of his own personal love and devotion to the poor, needy, abused, disenfranchised and marginalized. He has even had automatic weapons held to his head in this pursuit. In 2010, while in Brazil to donate toys and clothing to the poor, he formed a strong relationship with three orphanages, which would form the basis for the organizational establishment of the, We Shall Overcome Foundation in 2012. Isaias has been blessed with a 30-year career as a recording artist, music-producer, music-publisher, songwriter, recording engineer, musician and arranger. His credits include artists such as, The Temptations, Janet Jackson, Tupac, Gladys Knight, Bamboleo and more. He is a 35 year member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). In 2012 he authored the book, "We Shall Overcome: Sacred Song on the Devil's Tongue". This book is a comprehensive guide on the history of We Shall Overcome and the biography of, Louise Shropshire--the original author of, the freedom song, "We Shall Overcome". The book is a compendium describing the disturbing, previously undiscovered details surrounding the true origins of "We Shall Overcome" and explores the historical attitudes of Black-exploitation, subjugation and racism in America by non culture-bearers. Isaias is also a certified carpenter, licensed Christian minister and competitive youth soccer coach, who dedicates much of his time to humanitarian efforts in the US, Brazil and Costa Rica.
