Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Seit der Schaffung des Neuen Marktes existiert in Deutschland nicht nur eine neue Börsenkultur, sondern auch eine neue Unternehmenslandschaft. Jungen, innovativen Unternehmen bietet sich seither über die Aufnahme von Kapital am Neuen Markt die Möglichkeit, ihre Innovationen und Wachstumsbestrebungen zu finanzieren. Nach einer über drei Jahre andauernden Euphorie am Neuen Markt, die durch das Vertrauen der Anleger in die Geschäftsmodelle der Unternehmen getragen wurde, ist seit März 2000 eine zunehmende Skepsis der Anleger zu verzeichnen, die in dramatischen Kursstürzen der Aktien zum Ausdruck kommt. So verlor bspw. der NEMAX50 innerhalb eines Jahres ca. 80 % an Wert. Hauptursache der Kursstürze war die nicht auf Fundamentaldaten der Unternehmen beruhende hohe Bewertung der Aktien. Der Zeitpunkt des Börsencrashs liegt darin begründet, dass Umsatz- und Gewinnprognosen revidiert werden mussten, da die in den Geschäftsmodellen gehegten Erwartungen nicht erfüllt werden konnten. Die daraus resultierende Entwicklung eines rückläufigen Vertrauens der Anleger in den Neuen Markt verstärkte sich mit der zunehmenden Veröffentlichung von Studien, die in sogenannten „Todeslisten" auf mögliche Bestandsgefährdungen von Neuer Markt Unternehmen hinwiesen. Mittlerweile droht einigen Neuer Markt Unternehmen die Zahlungsunfähigkeit. Am 09.03.2001 stellte mit der teamwork information management AG ein zweites Unternehmen nach der Gigabell AG am Neuen Markt einen Insolvenzantrag. Der Ausleseprozess des Marktes wird am Neuen Markt weiter voranschreiten und diejenigen Unternehmen selektieren, deren Geschäftsmodelle oder Management nicht wettbewerbsfähig sind. Hier setzen die hohen Publizitätsanforderungen des Neuen Marktes an, die versuchen, die Chancen- und Risikosituationen der Wachstumsunternehmen bei geringen Informationskosten den Anspruchsgruppen transparent zu vermitteln, damit sie diese im Rahmen ihrer Zielsetzung berücksichtigen.
