Die Arbeit geht den Fragen nach, wann Unternehmen uberhaupt als erfolgreich bezeichnet werden konnen, worauf Erfolg beruht und auf welche Weise die Erfolgsgrundlagen geschaffen werden. Gegenstand der empirischen Untersuchung sind erfolgreiche deutsche und US-amerikanische Unternehmen des Bekleidungsfacheinzelhandels, die teils als Filialisten, teils als Solitare (-Platzhirsche-) im Markt agieren. Es werden die ermittelten betriebswirtschaftlichen Bestleistungen (-Benchmarks-) vorgestellt, die mitunter so deutlich uber dem Branchendurchschnitt liegen, dass bei den ubrigen Anbietern im Markt noch grosse Entwicklungsreserven vermutet werden konnen. Zugleich werden die Erfolgsgrundlagen der Forschungsobjekte herausgearbeitet, miteinander verglichen und nachvollziehbar interpretiert."
About the Author: Der Autor: Markus Eickhoff wurde 1963 in Lippstadt (NRW) geboren, studierte von 1985 bis 1990 Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Universitat Passau und schloss als Diplom-Kaufmann ab. Nach einjahriger Tatigkeit als Unternehmensberater war er seit 1992 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl fur Betriebswirtschaftslehre, insbes. Distribution und Handel, und an der Forschungsstelle fur Textilwirtschaft (FATM) an der Universitat Munster tatig. 1996 schloss er seine Promotion zum Doktor der Wirtschaftswissenschaften ab. Seit 1995 ist Markus Eickhoff Geschaftsfuhrer eines von ihm gegrundeten Versandfachhandels fur Bekleidung."
