Anselm Rapp, der Sohn von Maria Rapp-Blumenthal und Arthur Rapp und Enkel von Georg Blumenthal legt als Herausgeber dieses Büchleins allen Gesellianern eine ganz entzückende Überraschung vor. Fernab von aller wissenschaftlichen oder weltanschaulichen Problematik wird hier ganz mit den Mitteln einer jugendlichen Verehrerin Gesells, deren starker Sinn für lyrische Naturbeschreibung und überhaupt für die Poesie deutlich in ihrem Stil erkennbar wird, der Mensch Silvio Gesell anhand einer Reihe kleiner Begebenheiten geschildert. Wir erleben die ungewöhnliche menschliche Wärme dieses Mannes, die sich selten so deutlich offenbart hat wie hier im Umgang mit der befreundeten Familie Blumenthal. Man spürt recht, wie Gesell in diesem liebenswerten Kreise Ruhe, Entspannung und Kraft findet vor so manchen Widrigkeiten seines Lebens. Und hier offenbart sich Gesell, wenn auch vielleicht nicht in traditionell kirchlichem Sinne, so aber doch in seiner liebenden Ehrfurcht vor der Schöpfung als ein ausgesprochen frommer Mensch. Nach Berlin eilte Silvio Gesell aus Les Hauts-Geneveys, um Georg Blumenthal kennenzulernen, der als einer der ersten sein Interesse an Gesells Forschungsarbeit bekundet hatte. Hier entwickelte sich eine ganz tiefe Freundschaft, in die auch die ganze Familie Blumenthal mit hineingenommen wurde. Mit Gesell empfanden sie Stolz auf erste Erfolge und bangten mit ihm in der kritischen Zeit, während der er im "Ungemach 169" saß, wie er seine Gefängniszelle in Stadelheim nannte. Man spürt es deutlich den Zeilen von Maria Rapp-Blumenthal ab, daß sie in der späten Erinnerung einen Hauch von Genugtuung darüber empfindet, daß ihrem Vater Georg Blumenthal und Silvio Gesell, diesen beiden fanatischen Kämpfern für menschliche Freiheit, die seelische Bedrängnis der Nazizeit erspart blieb. Georg Blumenthal starb 1929, und ein knappes Jahr später, am 11.3.1930 starb, für die Blumenthals "wie vom Blitz getroffen", Silvio Gesell. Dr. Kurt Kessler, Spiekeroog
