About the Book

"... there comes a point when you realize that ... society is arbitrary. It rewards good behavior and it rewards bad behavior, and sometimes even if you are good, it nevertheless pokes you in the eye," said the Thai monk to Michael, a journalist still in his twenties and still looking for answers. Peter already understood a lot about the world when he jumped on a flight to Manila. Nevertheless, far from the normality of home, he became entangled in a classic fantasy, as if he knew nothing. Had he made a mistake? Where do you draw the line? In the genre of the books: Coming up for Air, Burmese Days, Lolita and Saint Jack. Escape from the Gibbon Sanctuary, is set in 1990's Philippines at a time when smoking was still allowed on airplanes and the Spice Girls were first enjoying their hit with Wannabe. Told mostly through the eyes of the main character this book takes the reader on a journey of self-discovery, through a tsunami and shanty towns, from Luzon to Boracay.
About the Author: About the Author. Between 1985-1999 Mark Lindsay worked in sales & marketing in the telecommunications industry, which included working in Eastern Europe during the fall of the Soviet Union. At the height of his international career he often said he had trouble knowing what to pack on his twice weekly flights around the world as his clients were spread out from the Arctic Circle to the Middle East. As the capital networking equipment market declined worldwide, with the lose of some 500,000 jobs world wide, Mark left Europe, initially to work in Saudi Arabia and then as a project director in Thailand, The Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan, in the fields of mobile telecoms and the internet. Finally disillusioned with being a wage slave he quit his career and spent the next three-years in Phuket, Thailand, where he made a living as a freelance journalist writing about cars, restaurants and luxury villas and had over 120 articles published. Mark was educated at Oxford University where he studied Experimental Psychology and afterwards worked in a video production company in Shepard's Bush doing script writing for major high street retailers such as MotherCare, the Post Office, Woolworths and Habitat. He also sold advertising for directories such as Yellow Pages and for a trade magazines, before leaving to study for a research council funded MBA at the Bradford University Management Centre. Today Mark lives on the South Coast of England and has a number of writing projects including helping other Inde. Publishers. To date he has published three books.
