Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2024 im Fachbereich Kunst - Fotografie und Film, Note: 1,7, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (Institut für Kunstgeschichte und Archäologien Europas), Veranstaltung: Architekturfotografie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Hausarbeit erforscht verschiedene Aspekte des umfangreichen Oeuvres des französischen Fotografen. Da er stark umstritten und schlecht dokumentiert ist, bleibt sein Schaffen durch die 8500 Aufnahmen des Paris des jungen 20. Jahrhunderts erhalten. Neben einer Einführung in die Struktur seines Arbeitens wird anhand dreier Fallbeispiele verdeutlicht welchen Motivationen ihn antrieben, ob ein Kunstgehalt vorliegt und welche Erkenntnisse er der Fotografie vermachte. In der Literatur gern als Vater der modernen Fotografie bezeichnet, ranken sich viele starke Interpretationsansätze um das Arbeiten und Leben des französischen Fotografen Eugène Atget (1857-1927). Das berühmte Schild: Documents pour artists über seinem Studio leitet in die Diskussion über sein riesiges Oeuvre ein, die in der vorliegenden Arbeit näher diskutiert werden soll. Anhand drei ausgewählter Fallbeispiele wird das Spannungsfeld zwischen Atget´s schätzungsweise 8500 Glasplattennegativen, und seiner Definition dieser, als Vorlagen für Künstler*innen differenziert diskutiert. Dabei sollen Fragen nach psychologischen und monetären Motivationsgründen Atget´s, möglichem Kunstgehalt seiner Arbeiten und vermeintliche Ziele seines Arbeitens besprochen werden. In der Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Argumenten, im Bezug auf ein so umfangreiches Oeuvre, sind allgemeingültige Aussagen schwer zu treffen, da er in dreißig Jahren Arbeit am gleichen Konzept einige Variationen in seinen Komposition erarbeitet. Doch sollen alle angeführten Schwerpunkte der Atget-Expert*innen an den Fallbeispielen diskutiert werden, um im Rahmen dieser eine Un/-Gültigigkeit zu finden.
