Was macht guten Unterricht aus? Diese Frage ist fur die Evaluation und Sicherung von Unterrichtsqualitat zentral und lasst sich aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachten. Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht die Frage, welche Qualitatsmerkmale auf Experimentierphasen im Chemieunterricht zutreffen, um so die allgemeine Debatte um guten Unterricht durch fachspezifische Aspekte zu erganzen. Die Erfassung der gegenwartigen Experimentierpraxis im regularen Chemieunterricht erfolgte an verschiedenen Realschulen in NRW mit insgesamt 264 Schulerinnen und Schulern der 10. Jahrgangsstufe. Neben den Leistungs-, Interessens- und Motivationsdaten der Schulerinnen und Schuler wurden die Unterrichtsstunden videographiert und kategoriengeleitet analysiert. Die mittels dieser Analysen identifizierten Qualitatsmerkmale wurden in einer nachfolgenden Interventionsstudie auf ihre Bedeutung hin uberpruft. Im Vergleich der Pre- und Posttestdaten konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass die Interventionsgruppe einen signifikant hoheren Lernzuwachs aufweist als die Kontrollgruppe. Hinsichtlich der Motivation und des Interesses am Chemieunterricht und am Experiment konnten keine signifikanten Unterschiede festgestellt werden. Bei Betrachtung des situationalen Interesses der Schulerinnen und Schuler nach den videographierten Unterrichtsstunden zeigte sich eine signifikant hohere Auspragung in der Interventionsgruppe, was sich in weiteren Analysen als partieller Mediator fur den Lernerfolg erwies. Die Auswertung der Videodaten zeigt, dass in der Interventionsgruppe insbesondere die Merkmale Zeitnutzung, Schulererklarung, Ergebnissicherung, Hypothesenuberprufende Experimente, Instruktionseffizienz, Klarheit und Strukturiertheit, Problemlosender Unterricht und die Gelungenheit des Experiments signifikant hoher ausgepragt sind.
