Projektarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich Literaturwissenschaft - Karibik, Note: 2,0, Universität Erfurt (Geisteswissenschaftliche Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Die Literaturen der Karibik: Insuläre Lektüren, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Mit dem Roman "Das Reich von dieser Welt" arbeitet Alejo Carpentier die Unabhängigkeitsbewegung in der Karibik literarisch auf und behandelt damit repräsentative Figuren, Geschehnisse und Phasen der lateinamerikanischen Geschichte, die etwa von 1760 bis in die Zwanzigerjahre des 19. Jahrhunderts reichen. Um einen Einstieg in die Analyse dieses Romans zu erhalten, scheint es sinnvoll, Carpentiers Blick auf die Rassen- und Kulturmischung in Lateinamerika genauer zu betrachten. Denn die Ansichten der extra-okzidentalen Perspektive zeigen sich aufgrund jenes Verhältnisses, das in Lateinamerika und in der Karibik zwischen der westlichen Kultur und den Schwarzen entstand. Dabei bespricht Carpentier das Problem der Abhängigkeit vom europäischen Modell und verdeutlich, dass er eine reine Nachahmung ablehnt. Nichtsdestotrotz befürwortet er keinen radikalen Bruch mit dem europäischen Muster, sondern sieht es als wichtig an, es anzuerkennen und davon zu lernen. Amerika sieht Carpentier als einen "Ort des Zusammentreffens dreier großer Weltrassen, der roten, schwarzen, weißen, die sich sonst nirgends auf dem Planeten getroffen haben" und zeichnet damit in seinem frühen Roman eine Spannung zwischen Amerika und Europa nach, die seiner Auffassung nach für Lateinamerika bezeichnend war. In einer erzählerischen Gegenüberstellung zwischen Einheimischen und Zugereisten verdeutlicht er, wie Letztere Traditionen, Lebensweisen, Gebräuche und Ideale aus Europa nach Amerika "transplantierten". Außerdem brachten die Europäer westliche Lektüre und Musik sowie "[europäische] Raumvorstellungen von Gebäuden, Städten und Landschaften" mit. Dadurch kam es zu einer Hispanisierung und Europäisierung Amerikas. Doch nicht nur das, auch die Negersklaven afrikanisier
