Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Arbeit, Beruf, Ausbildung, Organisation, Note: 1,3, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Familienunternehmen nehmen eine bedeutende Stellung in der deutschen Wirtschaft ein. So sind mehr als 90% der Unternehmen in Familienbesitz. Sie erzielen 40% der Umsätze und schaffen fast 60% aller Arbeitsplätze in Deutschland. Damit ein Familienunternehmen erfolgreich fort bestehen kann, ist die Nachfolgefrage entscheidend für die Zukunft eines Unternehmens. Nach Schätzung des Institutes für Mittelstandsforschung Bonn werden im Zeitraum 2010 bis 2014 ca. 110.000 Familienunternehmen einen neuen Nachfolger benötigen, da die Eigentümer aus der Führung alters- oder krankheitsbedingt ausscheiden oder sterben. Nach einer Studie vom Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement gelingt aber nur in 30% der Familienunternehmen der Wechsel von der ersten in die zweite Generation. In den nächsten Generationen sieht es noch ungünstiger aus: von der zweiten in die dritte Generation sind es gerade mal 10% und in die vierte schaffen es gar nur noch 5%. Wie ist diese Tatsache zu erklären? Warum gelingt es nur so wenigen Familienunternehmen erfolgreich den Generationenwechsel zu vollbringen? Die Hausarbeit wird sich mit dieser Frage beschäftigen und nach den möglichen Ursachen fragen. Meine These ist, dass generell eine starke emotionale Bindung zwischen den Familienmitgliedern eines Unternehmens herrscht, und zwar so stark, dass in Krisensituationen eine rationale Auseinandersetzung unter den Familienmitglieder um ihr Unternehmen verhindert wird. Beim Versuch, Antworten auf diese Fragestellung zu finden, werde ich unter anderem auf ein Werk des Psychoanalytiker und Systemtherapeuten Fritz Simon, "Die Familie des Familienunternehmens", zurückgreifen. Anschließend sollen mögliche Ursachen am Beispiel des Familienunternehmens Merckle herausgearbeitet werden, eines der größten in der deut
