About the Author: ABOUT CHRISTOPHER BUXTON Born into a theatrical family, Christopher Buxton graduated English and American Literature and then worked as a teacher and lecturer in the UK, Portugal, Norway and Bulgaria. A speaker of French and Latin he is also fluent in Norwegian and Bulgarian. He is a novelist and translator, happy to acknowledge his passionate affair with Bulgaria, which began with his three year stint as a teacher there from 1977. He has been writing Bulgarian orientated fiction since 2006 and has written 7 books, 4 of which have been translated and published in Bulgarian. Far from the Danube Prudence and the Red Baron Svetlana is Dead Radoslava and the Viking Prince The Devil's Notebook Surge Princess Smartina and the Seven Scallywags (for children) His translation of Rumen Balabanov's "Ragiad "was published by Dalkey Press "Best European Fiction 2013" and he edited the English translation of Alec Popov's "Mission London" (Istros Books 2014). His translation of "East of Eden" by Izabela Shopova was published by Inkwater Press in 2015. His translation of Nikola Filipov's "Bulgarians around London: Where they go, what they do and should I care?" is published by Author Press in 2014. He has also translated significant extracts from classic and contemporary Bulgarian fiction writers and poets. Most of these translations can be found on his website: www.christopherbuxton.com His translation of sections from Milen Ruskov's masterpiece, "The Heights" was published by "Missing Slate" and was used in the awards ceremony for European Writer of the Year, which was awarded to Milen this year. He also translated the screen play for the upcoming film production.
