Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Medienpädagogik, Note: 1,0, Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Berichte, die uns in authentische Beziehung zu großen Ereignissen bringen, werden zu Dokumenten..." (Riefenstahl, 1940). Diese Aussage Leni Riefenstahls über das Genre des Dokumentarfilms gibt dem Betrachter ihrer Filme Aufschluss darüber, was sie selbst unter filmischer Dokumentation verstand. Vielmehr noch gibt es dem Rezipienten ihrer Werke bzw. der historischen Filmforschung eine Leseart und Interpretationshilfe vor. Es wird deutlich, dass es Riefenstahl bei der Produktion ihrer beiden wohl bekanntesten Filme "Triumph des Willens" und "Olympia 1938 - Fest der Völker, Fest der Schönheit" nicht nur um das chronologische Festhalten der damaligen Ereignisse ging. Der Zuschauer sollte emotional angesprochen, sowie durch eine inszenierte Dramaturgie das Geschehen selbst nachempfinden und -erleben können . Anhand dieser Intention wird deutlich, dass Riefenstahl auf die Wirkung, welche von ihren Bildern ausging, setzte. Folglich erscheint es als unlogisch, ihre Werke einzig dem Genre des Dokumentarfilms zuzuordnen. Als Regisseurin betrieb sie eine "Ästhetisierung von Politik" und prägte dadurch sowohl das nationale, als auch das internationale Erscheinungsbild des deutschen Faschismus [...] Fraglich ist die Relevanz der von Riefenstahl begründeten Ästhetik in der gegenwärtigen Medienkultur. Es ist wohl kaum zu bestreiten, dass auch heute noch mediale Formate existieren, welche propagandistische Ziele verfolgen und durch ihre spezifischen Gestaltungsmerkmale manipulative Funktion aufweisen. Hierfür kann exemplarisch die Werbung mit ihrer Intention, Menschen zum Kauf angepriesener Produkte zu verleiten, gesehen werden. Die Intention solch kommerzieller Medienprodukte zielt in der Regel auf eine positive Beeinflussung der Meinungsfindung des Rezipienten in Bezug auf die dargestellte Sache.
