About the Book

Luke Lock lives on Earth in a not too distant future. He is an exemplary citizen who loves his life and views the government as benevolent. Luke revels in working for the greater good, strongly believing that his work helps to guarantee the safety of others on planet Earth. Luke never questions the reason why a Security Tag was implanted in his shoulder by State Surveillance, believing it is there for his own good. But Luke's views are about to change when he sees an unexpected arrest on State Television. The arrest doesn't make sense to him, especially when he realizes who is being arrested by the infamous Captain Gore and his feared team of Avoiders. Luke decides to start his own investigation, but has no idea where to start and who to ask for help. In this adventure Luke has to make some very important decisions that will not only affect his own life but also the stability of society. "The Fifty Cent Café" is a story about courage, belief, and the strength to overcome your own doubts and fight for freedom, even when the odds are against you.
About the Author: André Ferero is a South African who has been living in the south of France since July 2006. He was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and grew up outside the city on a small farm. After high school André attended the University of Pretoria for four years. After finishing university, when he wasn't working, he spent most of his time traveling. But, like everybody knows, there is never enough time or money (or usually both) for traveling and André hopes to still visit many other places in future. André's loves in life (after his family and writing) include reading, music, good movies, meeting people from other parts of the world, tasting wine, cycling and exploring earth in fiction and reality. André loves many different styles of writing and have numerous "favorite" writers. The list includes Patrick Rothfuss, Deon Meyer, Larry McMurtry, Ken Kesey, Philip K. Dick, Paulo Coelho, Joanne Harris, Tolkien and many others. André currently writes speculative fiction, finding it easier to express himself in that genre. In the worlds he create anything is possible and the restrictions of earth as we know it don't always apply to the characters of futuristic places. André also likes magic realism, where so-called "reality" is infused with everyday magic. André believes that all human beings are essentially creative and that everybody should strive to find a suitable way in which to express their creativity.
