About the Book

The Cheetah's Tearstains
The evil and lazy hunter steals the Cheetah's two cubs, intending to train them to hunt for him. Cheetah is devastated by the loss of her two cubs and cries so many tears that they stain her face. An old man asks Cheetah why she is crying and upon hearing of her loss tells the village chieftain what the hunter has done. But can the village chieftain re-unite the tearful cheetah with her two cubs? A myth from Africa.
The Great Rescue
When Cheetah grabs Mouse near the top of the hill and runs down the hill with him, he accidentally knocks Tortoise over. Tortoise tumbles down the hill, falls into a river, is kicked out by Hippo, is almost trampled by Elephant and is picked up by Eagle who then accidentally drops him from a great height. Tortoise lands on Cheetah's head. Cheetah drops Mouse and runs away. When Mouse tells the other animals that Tortoise saved him from Cheetah the other animals ask Tortoise how he managed to save Mouse. Tortoise's answer is hilarious. A fun read with a simple message.
You're such a Slow-poke
Jimmy, Jack, Annie and Frankie live at the edge of a huge forest. One day Jack, Annie and Frankie see a beautiful butterfly and decide to follow it into the forest. They hurry into the forest telling Jimmy to follow them. Jimmy is more interested in playing with his glass marbles and follows the others reluctantly. The children follow the butterfly deep into the woods. Eventually the butterfly disappears and Jack, Annie and Frankie realize that they are lost. They hurry to Jimmy who has been following them while still playing with his marbles and tell him that they are lost. How are the children going to find their way home especially as Jimmy has been focused on his marbles and obviously can't help them? A fun read with a simple message.
The Strange Picture
Rabbit and Squirrel come across a strange flat object lying on the ground. Rabbit picks it up and discovers that it is a picture of a rabbit. He shows it to Squirrel who claims that the picture is of a squirrel and not a rabbit. Rabbit shows the picture to Badger who tells them that they are both wrong and the picture is of a badger. All the other animals look at the picture; Mouse says it is a picture of a mouse, Monkey says it is a monkey, Hedgehog says it is a hedgehog, Baboon says it is a baboon and Tortoise says it is a tortoise. The animals ask King Lion for his opinion and he astounds them all by saying that it is a picture of a great lion. Just then Owl arrives and the animals ask Owl who is depicted in the picture. Owl looks at the picture and then explains why the animals are so divided in what the picture depicts. A fun read with a simple message.
Why Bat is Always So Busy
The Great Power invented darkness because there was only light and the inhabitants of the Earth found it difficult to sleep in the light. The Great Power packaged the darkness in a box and assigned Bat to take it to the Moon. On the way to the Moon Bat stopped in the forest to rest and seek food and left the package of darkness next to a pathway. While Bat was away a curious mouse opened the package and the darkness escaped just as Bat returned. In desperation Bat tried to capture the darkness but can he possibly do so before the Great Power discovers what he has done? A myth from Africa.
