Die Geschichte des 11-jährigen Albins in dem Kinderroman "Vielleicht dürfen wir bleiben" dient exemplarisch als Beispiel für das Schicksal vieler Geflüchteter und sensibilisiert die Leser*innen für die Umstände von Geflüchteten. Albins Geschichte regt zum Nachdenken an und steht dabei stellvertretend für die Schicksale vieler Menschen, die in der Flüchtlingskrise 2015 oder gerade aktuell wegen des Ukraine-Kriegs plötzlich ihre Heimat verlassen mussten. Der Roman zeigt dabei besonders deutlich, wie sehr Albin durch die Fluchterfahrung in jungen Jahren geprägt wurde. Die Fluchtszenarien, die in dem Kinderroman beschrieben werden, lassen sich hierbei als potenziell traumatische Erlebnisse bezeichnen. In der Analyse soll ausgeführt werden, inwiefern Albins Fluchterfahrung mit den potenziell traumatisierenden Erlebnissen seine Verhaltensweisen in der Gegenwart beeinflussen. Es wird deshalb die Definition eines Traumas, mögliche Ereignisfaktoren, Folgen und Schutzfaktoren anhand von Fachliteratur herausgearbeitet. Schwerpunkt ist dabei Untersuchung der psychischen Folgen nach einer prägenden Belastung. Der theoretische Hintergrund liefert nachfolgend die Aspekte und Analysekategorien für die Analyse am Primärtext. Für betroffene Personen ist die Sensibilisierung Außenstehender für Traumafolgestörungen besonders wichtig. Leser*innen des Romans entwickeln durch Albins Schilderungen des Krieges und der damit einhergehenden Folgen möglicherweise ein tiefergehendes Verständnis dafür, wie sich physische und psychische Folgen der Kriegserlebnisse geflüchteter Personen auch noch Jahre nach der Flucht manifestieren.
