Ce livre est le résultat d'une réflexion approfondie sur l'évolution d'une relation enracinée dans l'espace-temps entre la France et l'Islam. Le cadre général de cette relation est dessiné par les conflits, mais la France d'un côté et les différents empires musulmans de l'autre côté ont su développer sur plusieurs siècles des relations amicales, qui ont pu garantir pendant longtemps les intérêts de chacun. Le statut du musulman a, lui aussi, évolué au fil des siècles. Le musulman qui était concurrent avant le dixième siècle, est devenu pleinement citoyen à la fin du vingtième siècle, en passant par plusieurs statuts intermédiaires. L'auteur trace dans ce livre une autre lecture des évènements historiques, il présente au lecteur français la vision des historiens musulmans sur des évènements qui le concernent directement. Il pointe du doigt le vrai problème qui menace la société française, à savoir la stigmatisation d'une de ses composantes, le lynchage médiatique auquel les musulmans sont systématiquement soumis. Ce livre interpelle directement les responsables politiques et religieux, ainsi que le simple citoyen, pour ne plus laisser propager la parole haineuse, qui met en danger la cohésion nationale et menace le vivre ensemble caractérisant les grandes civilisations porteuses de valeurs humaines.
Quatre ans après la sortie de la première édition de ce livre, rien n'a changé ou presque, le constat est le même, la crispation envers la communauté musulmane en France est la même.
Nous avons souhaité rééditer ce livre, parce que l'intérêt qu'il porte est énorme, il expose une autre façon de voir les choses, met le doigt là où ça fait mal, nous avons révisé le contenu et nous l'avons enrichi de trois nouvelles parties; le voyage d'Afoqay, un intellectuel musulman Mauresque, qui a passé plusieurs mois en France de 1610 à 1612, entre Paris, Bordeaux et Toulouse. Le lecteur découvrira un témoignage intéressant de la vie en France à cette époque. Nous avons développé dans un nouveau chapitre l'évolution de l'orientalisme français au fil des siècles, dans un autre chapitre, nous avons expliqué les différentes méthodes appliquées, pour changer les fondements de l'Islam, dans l'objectif de le christianiser, le rendre moins présent dans la vie du français de confession musulmane.
Le vivre ensemble est devenu un mot tabou, personne ne prend la parole pour rappeler aux français de tous bords que la tolérance est tellement nécessaire pour garantir la cohésion nationale.
