About the Book

The name of the fiction is "Friday Signature" which is a love-tragedy where a progressive cultural Muslim couple was oppressed and outraged by the so-called fanatic religious city fathers with their perverted scriptural jurisprudence. The novel 'Friday Signature' unravels this so-called warp and woof of social relations. The contemporary national and international streams of events along with various socio-political burning problems have been depicted in the ramifications of this narrative in course of discussion. How does the perverse religious tenet oppress the women, how does the venomous politics defile the civil society, how does the religious fanaticism immolate the creative minds in the sacrificial post of bigotry, how is the Indian society being degraded extremely - so many things, relevantly, have come in the seraglio of this fiction. If we cannot able to bring back the fanatic and orthodox sections of the Muslim community to the main-stream Indian culture, we will never be able to get rid of religious fundamentalism and communal separatism. The protagonist of my novel has been crusading incessantly against International Islamic Terrorism and the bad effects of communalism through his socio-political ideology-oriented apophthegm and cultural clairvoyance besides leading the Women's Liberation Movement across the country though he was leveled as heretic, heresiarch and blasphemer by the defenders of the faith. Our National Movement assumed the incomplete partial figure on the eve of independence, as then, our so-called national leaders couldn't incorporate the urgent programme of great Cultural Revolution with the euphoric socio-political movement. Democratic customs and lofty values based on highly adorable progressive thriving culture could not be bloomed in our sensitive national consciousness. If we want to accelerate the blossoming of new cultural values in our social life, the unprejudiced cultural standard has to be given high importance in the field of moribund educational system. We have to stop in no time the propensity of mixing the spiritualism with modern science. Religion-orientation (religicization) of education has also to be shut off at this moment in the field of ethical values and social morality admixing the mediaeval old religious values with humane values and humanistic ideologies. 'Friday Signature' is a love-story of Altaf and Rubina's soft nothings, which is, indeed, not at all a love-story. Oliullah-Al-Harun and his henchmen are making bricks without straw leading Dr. Sahidul Haque and his friend by the nose with smearing campaigns. Having an axe to grind, Mr. Nurul Amin is trying to upset the apple-cart to the top of his bent hitting his sworn enemies below the belt. Dr. Sahidul Haque, however, taking the bitter with the sweet, has taken the bull by the horns paddling his own canoe to save his ideology standing in the breach. The city fathers are playing with the edge-tools on carpet consideration not putting the saddle on the right horse. They are dragging Dr. Sahidul Haque's name through the mire knocking him off the pedestal having cut the ground from under his feet. On the other hand, having regained his nerves, Altaf is trying to pull the chestnuts out of the fire of his father's lust working out their own salvation reckoning without his host to square the circle. But, Rubina is eating her heart out while fighting for hearth and alter with out of her elements being frightened the Day of Last Judgement as the eternal verities. The socio-cultural ideologue, Dr. Sahidul Haque, even after making bricks without straw, was proceeding towards the dubious future hanging in the balance against the virus in the antidote.
